The Northamptonshire Renewable Energy Hub is centred on the Market Harborough area, close to key strategic transport routes including the A14, A43 and A509. The project has the potential to bring together solar, wind, long-duration energy storage and local energy demand within one coordinated infrastructure model.
The hub could support a range of local energy needs, including a potential AI data centre, HGV charging along the A14 corridor and heat network opportunities for planned new homes. It could also support the reuse of data centre heat for hydroponics and food production, creating a more circular approach to energy infrastructure.
With demand for clean power, digital infrastructure and logistics electrification continuing to grow across Northamptonshire, the project provides a practical model for how renewable energy infrastructure can support housing, clean industry, jobs and long-term local economic growth.
