Africa – Integrated Energy & Industrial Renewable Hub

Unlocking local value from natural resources through integrated energy systems
Africa – Integrated Energy & Industrial Renewable Hub

A flexible Renewable Energy Hub designed for deployment where strong renewable resources align with demand for power, water and industrial capability. The model is particularly relevant in regions where infrastructure constraints or financing barriers have historically limited development, enabling local communities and industries to make practical use of available natural resources.

System Design

  • Generation: Solar PV, wind, geothermal and other location-specific renewable sources
  • Storage: Long-duration storage, including pumped storage and/or BESS, tailored to site conditions
  • Distribution: Local energy network supplying homes, businesses, agriculture and EV charging
  • Control: Central control centre optimising generation, storage and demand
  • Water Infrastructure: Desalination and water treatment for domestic and agricultural use
  • Industrial Integration: Hydrogen production via electrolysis and downstream ammonia/nitrogen-based processing
  • Export Capability: Integration with transport infrastructure, such as ports, for movement of energy products where locally appropriate

Outcomes

  • Reliable, locally generated power with reduced dependence on existing grid infrastructure
  • Enables communities and local industries to benefit from renewable resources.
  • Creates jobs, skills and long-term economic activity
  • Supports revenue generation through value-added products such as hydrogen and ammonia
  • Reduces reliance on imported fuels and improves energy security
  • Attracts investment by combining infrastructure delivery with scalable, practical revenue models

Development Context

This hub model is designed to be highly adaptable, with each deployment configured to local geography, resources and infrastructure. It is particularly relevant in regions where development has been constrained by infrastructure gaps, grid limitations or financing barriers. The approach combines asset-backed infrastructure with tangible local economic benefit.
